ñ reports Governor Eno announced this during the second day of the state delivery meeting Friday, July 4, 2025, in the Banquet Hall of Government House, in Uyo, the state capital.

Established in 1973, the NYSC is a one-year compulsory service scheme for Nigerian graduates below the age of 30.

The government created the scheme to foster national integration, unity, and development by deploying young graduates to states outside their region of origin for community service, education, and nation-building efforts.

Corps members actively contribute to sectors, such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and rural development.

Governor Eno stated the Corps members’ increase in the state’s monthly allowance would become effective from August 1, 2025.

The governor also explained that the increment was to support the Federal Government’s new N77,000 monthly allowance, thereby helping the Corps members to meet their basic needs.

Eno further explained: “Over 10,000 Corps members are posted to Akwa Ibom annually.

“We must continue to encourage and support them.”

It was also gathered the Akwa Ibom State Government recently approved the reconstruction of the NYSC orientation camp at Ikot Itie Idung, in Nsit Atai, as part of ongoing efforts improving the welfare of Corps members across the state.
