NNPCL reduces fuel price, opens new retail outlet with free PMS in Lagos

*The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited again, reduces the pump price of its Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise known as petrol, from N955 to N900 within barely over 48 hours after effecting a price hike across its retail outlets in the West African country

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) again, has dropped the pump price of its Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol, from N955 to N900 barely 48 hours after the price hike across its retail outlets in the West African country.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ gathered that some NNPCL retail outlets adjusted their fuel pump price downward to N900 per litre from the recent N955 announced and effected Monday, August 4, 2025.

NNPCL opens a new retail outlet at Ajah, Lagos

Earlier, oil marketers had earlier blamed the recent fuel price hike across filling stations on the increase in the ex-depot product prices in Dangote Petroleum Refinery and depots in Nigeria.

Report also indicated the state-owned oil company retail outlets in Gwarimpa, Kubwa Expressway, Wuse Zone 6, and Wuse Zone 4, all in Abuja, FCT, have implemented the new petrol pump price as of morning Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

An attendant working with the NNPCL retail outlet in Abuja, reportedly affirmed that “on Tuesday, we sold fuel at N955 per litre, but it is now N900.â€

Following this disclosure, NNPCL reported to have reduced the price of its PMS by N55 per litre after announcing a product hike Monday to N955 per litre fir energy consumers.

Besides the NNPCL retail outlets, Ranoil and Empire Energy filling stations in Gwarimpa, Abuja, have also adjusted their fuel prices to N955 and N950 per litre, respectively, from previous N971 and N970, according to report.

However, a manager at one of the MRS filling stations in Abuja, reportedly disclosed that fuel pump price at the company’s retail outlets has remained at N885 as of Tuesday this week.

Company opens new retail outlet at Ajah, Lagos

Meanwhile, the NNPCL has commissioned a new retail outlet with an attactive PMS price of N865 per litre, in the Ajah axis of Lagos State.

The company, which announced this development Thursday, August 7, 2025, in a terse message via its verified X account, said: “Hello Lagos! Our new NNPC Retail Service Station, Ado-Langbasa, Ajah, is now open.

“To celebrate the grand opening, we gave out free fuel (PMS) to some of our customers as a warm thank-you.â€

It urged PMS consumers to “swing by for quality fuel, seamless service, and a top-tier experience every single time.â€
