*The Niger Delta Power Holding Company indicates the power agreement will allow Eko DisCo to explore innovative ways to unlock investment in infrastructure for improved supply to customers

As part of its strategic plan to source alternative means to ensure dispatch of its stranded power to electricity consumers, the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has signed an agreement with the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) Plc to deliver 300 Megawatts of power to Ibeju-Lekki and other franchise area in Lagos State.

Ms. Olufunke Nwankwo, Head of Communication and Public Relations of NDPHC, in a statement Friday, in Abuja, FCT, said the agreement, sealed in the presence of Governor

Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, would enable the DisCo to supply electricity directly to EKEDC from existing capacity.

The NDPHC Spokesperson stated Mr. Chiedu Ugbo, Managing Director of company, said that the agreement was part of NDPHC鈥檚 strategic plan to source alternative means to sell and ensure dispatch of its stranded power for the ultimate benefit of consumers.

Mr. Ugbo stated that the deal would also allow Eko DisCo to explore innovative ways to unlock investment in infrastructure for improved supply to its customers.

The Managing Director of the power firm also said: 鈥淭he recognition of these complementary objectives has birthed the relationship between NDPHC and EKEDC that we are formally kicking off today (Friday).

鈥淥ur mutual objective is to work together to deliver the arrangements that will ensure safe, reliable and steady supply of power to customers in Ibeju-Lekki and other parts of EKEDC鈥檚 franchise area.

Ugbo further explained that 鈥渢his collaboration is significant considering the strategic importance of Lagos state as Nigeria鈥檚 commercial capital and host state for key industries in Nigeria.

鈥淚t is also for this reason that we are pleased to sign this document in the presence of Mr. Governor, who is himself a key member of NDPHC鈥檚 Board of Directors, and whose State, Lagos, is one of our shareholders.鈥�

He noted: 鈥淲e look forward to carrying out this collaboration with the support of the Lagos State Government, and we believe that the collaboration will support the attainment of the infrastructure development and economic policies of the state government.鈥�

According to the Ugbo, the project 鈥渋s indeed a milestone for both parties and will deliver significant benefits to all the persons concerned.

鈥淔or NDPHC, the project will enable NDPHC, through its subsidiary generation companies, to deliver power to customers within EKEDC鈥檚 franchise areas.鈥�
