Land Rover recalls 163 Defender vehicles for faulty Powertrain Control Module

Emmanuel Akosile | ÂÌñÏׯÞ

Land Rover is recalling 163 model year 2020-2021 Land Rover Defender vehicles with 6-cylinder engines.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ gathered the automobile company said the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) of the affected vehicles may unexpectedly switch off while the vehicle is in motion, resulting in an engine stall with no warning.

An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash, Land Rover said.

In regard to what to do in resolving the issue, it is noted that the Connected Diagnostic Services (CDS) and the Over-the-air (OTA) diagnostics functionality will be disabled, either by a dealer or through an OTA update, free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 30, 2021.

Affected vehicle owners may contact Land Rover Customer Service on (800) 637-6837. Land Rover’s number for this recall is N599.
