As hospitalisations increase again, especially in the wake of the outbreak of the highly transmissible Delta variant in the United States (US), a fresh survey has explored reasons several consumers will not get vaccinated against the COVID-19 disease in the country.

When the COVID-19 vaccine first rolled out, millions of Americans lined up to get it. Now, that it is readily available, about 100 million Americans refuse to be vaccinated, researchers said.

The Kaiser Family Foundation survey explored the reasons, as it found that three in 10 adults remain unvaccinated, including one in 10 who say they want to 鈥渨ait and see鈥� how the vaccine works for other Americans before getting vaccinated.

Experts stated that the three percent disclosed they would only be vaccinated if they are required to do so by their employers.

One-fourth of unvaccinated adults say they will probably get vaccinated before the end of 2021.

The survey also found that as a group, unvaccinated adults, especially those who say they will 鈥渄efinitely not鈥� get a vaccine, are much less worried about the coronavirus, the Delta variant, and have less confidence in the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines compared to those who are vaccinated.

Meanwhile, as demands on hospitals are increasing in the US, despite that it appeared the pandemic was fading as a crisis between May and June this year, Americans who had put off medical treatments because of the pandemic began filling hospitals once more, according to report.

As the Delta variant is causing a surge in new cases, these hospitals are once again, under the gun.

Linnette Johnson, a Chief Nursing Officer at AdventHealth Central Florida, told the Wall Street Journal, that 鈥渢he physical, mental and emotional toll of this pandemic is taking its toll.鈥�

Florida is seeing a huge increase in cases, many of them among unvaccinated people. Last week, AdventHealth Central Florida reverted to a policy put in place at the height of the pandemic that halts nonessential surgeries.

It was gathered officials hope the decision will help free up staff and provide more space for COVID-19 patients.

In the same vein, another study has indicated that COVID-19 Vaccine reduces infection risk by 50 percent.

Researchers at Imperial College of London, in the United Kingdom (UK), have completed a study showing that fully vaccinated people are half as likely to be infected with the damaging Coronavirus than those who have not been vaccinated at all.

In the study, three times as many unvaccinated people tested positive for the virus than those who had been vaccinated.

Not surprisingly, all the positive samples in the study indicated that the infection was caused by the Coronavirus Delta variant.

As other studies have shown, therefore, fully vaccinated people who tested positive tended to have a less severe illness than unvaccinated people, report stated.

They also had smaller amounts of the virus in their bodies, meaning they may be less likely to pass it on if they are infected.
