*The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria has assured consumers, that the Coronavirus Vaccines are safe and effective against the raging pandemic

In defusing some common conspiracy theories and/or tales about fertility or the virus vaccines effectiveness, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Kaduna State Chapter, has urged Nigerians to ensure that they take shots of the full doses of COVID-19 Vaccines.

The professional association also assured the Nigerian consumers, that the Coronavirus vaccines are safe and effective.

Talatu Uwa Ebune, Chairman of PSN Kaduna State Chapter, while making remarks on the forthcoming 2021 World Pharmacist Day, scheduled for September 25, said the association had lined up activities ranging from rally, lecture, and drug exhibition to make the first edition of the Day after the lockdown a success, Blueprint report said.

The theme of this year鈥檚 World Pharmacist Day is: 鈥淧harmacy: Always Trusted For Your Health鈥�.

In regard to the safety and efficacy of the Coronavirus Vaccines in the face of complaints by some Nigerians, Pharm. Talatu remarked: 鈥淚 believe in the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines and I want to urge all Nigerians to ensure that they receive their full doses of the vaccines.

鈥淭hose making tales about the vaccines that they are not effective, or they are a ploy to affect fertility of Nigerians it is all conspiracy theories.

鈥淭here is no nation that would develop vaccine to reduce another nation鈥檚 fertility rate.鈥�

COVID-19 vaccination in Nigeria

The professional also stated the vaccines are produced globally and tested by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) before they are made available to Nigerians.

The association noted that the vaccines are proven to be efficacious and not harmful to consumers.

鈥淚 don鈥檛 think Federal Government or NAFDAC will deceive Nigerians and allow them take anything that would be harmful to them,鈥�

Talatu further stated: 鈥淭his day is celebrated by pharmacists to promote their commitments to organise activities that promote and advocate the role of the pharmacists in improving the health wellbeing of the people.

鈥淭his year鈥檚 theme is a central part of all human relationships and a fundamental element of social capital.

鈥淭rust is essential to healthcare, there is association between trust in healthcare professional and health outcomes for patients.

He added that 鈥渋n Kaduna State, pharmacists play a significant role during the COVID-19 pandemic and are still doing more.

鈥淲e are also not left out in contributing our quotas to displace persons because of the insecurity bedeviling some parts of the state.
