In a move to actually 鈥榯hink outside the box鈥� in order to realise the objectives of development initiatives of the current administration, the Lagos State Government (LASG) has disclosed plans to deliver 50 Megawatts and 20-hour electricity supply daily to Lagosians and their businesses through the Lagos State Electricity Policy.

绿帽献妻 reports Mr. Kayode Oyekanmi, Director of Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives (MCIC), in a statement issued Saturday, November 27, 2021, in Lagos, said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu noted that the policy decision is part of the efforts of his administration to accelerate industrialisation within the state.

Sanwo-Olu stated that the Lagos State Electricity Policy framework is set to create a sub-national electricity sector that would be entirely off the national grid and cater for the needs of households in the state.

The governor, when commending the creativity and resilience of young industrialists in Lagos State, urged them to tap into the opportunities made available by the state government.

According to Sanwo-Olu, some of these offerings are finances, entrepreneurship and technical support for entrepreneurs.

They could take these opportunities to provide workable solutions to the challenges of industrialisation in Lagos State and country at large.

He further said: 鈥淚t is time to think outside the box. You can for instance begin to think of developing machines that refine raw materials in small qualities to start with, but run solely on solar or other forms of clean energy.

鈥淚t is not the time to think of things we don鈥檛 have, rather, it is the time to maximise the opportunities at our disposal.

鈥淚 want you to know that we, the society, expect more from you in terms of innovation and creativity that will put an end to the challenges of industrialisation in Africa.鈥�

Sanwo-Olu, therefore, assured the Lagos residents that his administration would continue to give listening ears to all ideas put forward by industrialists and also give maximum support to develop them into the next big invention.

The statement also noted Dr. Lola Akande, Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, pledged the CCIC鈥檚 commitment to facilitating conducive environment for commerce to thrive in the Centre of Excellence.

Dr. Akande said that Lagos was ready to provide necessary promotional support through policies and programmes in order to attain a sustainable business environment.

The Commissioner urged the stakeholders and blue-chip companies to rise to the challenge of mentoring and supporting young industrialists to improve the productivity of industries in the state regarded as the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria.
