Dr. Anthony Fauci, foremost infectious diseases expert, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Chief Medical Adviser to United States President Joe Biden has been pencilled to speak at the forthcoming two-day Nigeria COVID-19 Summit holding in Abuja, FCT.

绿帽献妻 gathered the conference titled, 鈥淧ushing through the Last Mile to End the Pandemic and Build Back Better鈥�, is planned to be part of the ongoing efforts at redefining the West African country鈥檚 national COVID-19 response while building the health security framework for Nigeria.

Dr. Mukhtar Muhammed, Technical Head, Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria Sunday, December 5, 2021, in Abuja.

Muhammed noted that the Nigeria COVID-19 Summit, which is being organised in conjunction with the Coalition of Development Partners, would take place from December 6 to December 7, 2021.

The Technical Head of PSC on COVID-19 also said that the Committee had mobilised all critical stakeholders in the country, including development partners for this important National Summit in the FCT.

Muhammed stated: 鈥淲e are heartened and encouraged by the support we have received so far from our development partners and the private sector.

鈥淲ith just one day away from the commencement of this summit, which will help us to redefine our national COVID-19 response and build the health security framework for the country.鈥�

He, however, encouraged Nigerians and the international community to visit the Web site of this summit for registration.

Earlier, Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of PSC on COVID-19, had said that as part of the preparation of the Committee鈥檚 winding down, it would hold a COVID-19 summit in partnership with the Coalition of Development Partners in Nigeria.

Mustapha as well stated that the theme of the summit would be: 鈥淧ushing through the Last Mile to End the Pandemic and Build Back Better鈥�.

According to him, sub-themes of the Nigeria COVID-19 Summit include: 鈥淟eadership And Governance In Pandemic Recovery And Reconstruction鈥� and 鈥淣igeria鈥檚 Health-Security Framework For Effective Response To Global Health Security Threats鈥�.

He added the summit would be an assemblage of key and august actors in the health, economic, security and policy-making sectors of the country.
