*President Muhammdu Buhari commends Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State says his administration鈥檚 delivery of quality roads is a worthy example of 鈥榩romises made, promises kept鈥� for the people

President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated five key projects in Ogun State, as he assured the citizens that two major Federal roads under construction, the Sagamu-Benin Expressway and the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, in South-West would be commissioned before the end of 2022.

绿帽献妻 reports the President disclosed this development Thursday, January 13, 2022, while addressing the people of Ogun State at the pojects commissioning.

Addressing the residents, Buhari commended Governor (Prince) Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State on delivering visionary and trail-blazing projects for the people, even in the midst of prevailing and challenging circumstances occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A statement Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the Presdient on Media and Publicity, issued Thursday said that President Buhari described Governor Abiodun as the 鈥樷�榩erforming Governor of Nigeria鈥檚 Gateway State鈥欌��.

The President also stated that the Ogun State Governor is a worthy example of 鈥樷�榩romises made, promises kept鈥欌�� to his people.

The lofty projects: the Gateway City Gate; the 42-Kilometre Sagamu Interchange-Abeokuta Road; the 14km Ijebu-Ode-Epe Expressway and two Housing Estates for low, medium and high income earners at Kobape and Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta, respectively, could not have materialised without the State Government鈥檚 huge investment and commitment to security of lives and property, said Buhari.

He said: 鈥樷�楾his has made Ogun State one of the safest and most peaceful States in the country and investors鈥� destination of choice.

鈥樷�榊ou (Prince Abiodun) have justified the mandate of the people of Ogun State. You have represented our Party very well.鈥欌��

Buhari further expressed delight that the 14km Ijebu Ode-Mojoda-Epe Road commissioned by him has been reconstructed into a modern expressway by the Ogun State Government.

The President noted that the impressive road would complement the Sagamu-Benin Expressway that the Federal Government is currently reconstructing, which is also due for commissioning this year.

鈥樷�楯ust across the road is the 42-kilometer Sagamu-Interchange-Abeokuta Road which the state Government has reconstructed and equipped with street lights.

鈥樷�楾hat road enjoys a direct linkage with the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that the Federal Government is rebuilding and due for completion later this year,鈥� stated he.

Buhari further said that he was particularly impressed by the quality and standard of the state government鈥檚 road projects, and the creative way Governor Abiodun has deployed resources to reconstruct and rehabilitate them.

The President also noted: 鈥樷�業t is significant to note that the two road projects being commissioned today are federal roads.

鈥淭his is an example of constructive engagement, cooperation and collaboration between the States and Federal Government.

鈥樷�楾hese roads also fit well into our rail transportation masterplan that connects Lagos, Nigeria鈥檚 economic capital to Kano, with Ogun State having more rail stations, along the Lagos-Ibadan rail corridor.鈥欌��

Inclusive housing programme

In regard to the Ogun State Government鈥檚 housing project, the President commended its inclusiveness, saying it is equally heart-warming that it cuts across different social strata, capturing the low, medium and high income earners.

The Nigerian leader as well admired the Gateway City Gate Project, as he stated that 鈥樷�榠t is not just a Park beautification project.

鈥淚t depicts that something new is happening in Ogun State, a welcoming entrance into the State Capital at the centre point of the State.鈥欌��

The project is also an ICON, depicting the joining of hands for building the future of Ogun State in togetherness.

鈥樷�榊our Excellency, well done! I am proud of what you have done for your State and your people.

鈥樷�榊ou have made our great Party, the APC, proud too. You are a worthy example of promises made, promises kept.

鈥樷�楾hese lofty projects could not have materialised without your huge investment and commitment to security of lives and property,鈥欌�� Buhari said.

President assures Ogun State of more remarkable projects

In his response to a number of requests Governor Abiodun in connection with giving 聽priority attention to the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta and the Sango Otta-Idiroko Roads respectively, President Buhari assured the people of Ogun State that these roads will receive Federal Government attention.

According to the President, the Federal Government would consider extending tax credit as funding option for the reconstruction of the said roads, as done for the 100km Sagamu Interchange-Papalanto-Ilaro Road.

He also pledged to consider the approval of the reconstruction of Sagamu-Ogijo Road by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited under the tax credit scheme.

Appreciaing the warm reception accorded him and his entourage on arrival in the state earlier, the President thanked the residents for the warm reception in the 鈥楪ateway State鈥�, which is his first visit to any state in the Federation in 2022.

He noted: 鈥樷�楾his welcome by the large crowd brings back the nostalgia of my first arrival on this soil as a young infantry officer in the Nigerian Army at the then Lafenwa Barracks in Abeokuta, not long after Independence.

鈥樷�楾he traditional hospitality of the people of this State has not waned a bit. Today, I am 鈥極mowale鈥�, and very happy at this homecoming to meet my brothers and sisters whose goodwill I have always enjoyed. Thank you.鈥欌��

While congratulating the people of Ogun State on having such a focused, deliberate and inclusive Administration under the watch of Prince Abiodun, the President urged them to continue to support the governor for the successful implementation of the 鈥楤uilding our Future Together鈥� Agenda of his Administration.

He ras well remarked: 鈥樷�楾he reward for success is more hardwork to meet the increasing expectations of the people.

鈥樷�榃hen state governments deliver impactful projects, in consultations with stakeholders, like we have witnessed in Ogun State, the trajectory of our national development will be enhanced.

鈥淚 will leave Ogun State with fond memories and look forward to enjoying the privilege of my honourary indigeneship.鈥�
