The Federal Government has begun full implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021 in earnest, and the new legislation offers business opportunities that will enable the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited to earn more revenue for the West African country.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports Malam Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (GMD/CEO) of NNPC Limited, disclosed this development while addressing the company’s staff in a townhall meeting held at the weekend, at the NNPC Towers, Abuja, FCT.

Mr. Garba Deen Muhammad, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs, Division, NNPC Limited, stated that other staff outside the Corporate Headquarters (CHQ), Saturday, January 15, 2022, in Abuja, also participated in the meeting virtually.

The company noted Malam Kyari, who highlighted the significance of the PIA to the NNPC, and by extension the Nigerian economy, also disclosed that the new legislation has raised shareholders’ expectations from the oil firm, even as such has given it a wide room to make progress in the oil and gas sector of the Nigerian economy.

The NNPC CEO further stated the PIA has put “all money-making options on the table; it is up to us to take advantage of it”.

Sequel to the new legislation, NNPC Limited will not only shed some of its toxic liabilities but becomes the largest and most capitalised company in Africa and, potentially, the most profitable on the entire African continent, said he.

Kyari, therefore,  charged employees of the organisation to ensure that the company becomes a commercially viable entity and multibillion Dollar company that will continuously deliver value to its shareholders ─over 200million Nigerians.
