The presidential aide also explained that the objective of the exercise is to expand access to the adoption of cooking gas among Nigerian consumers.

According to him, the first phase of the exercise is expected to begin in 12 out of the 36 states of the Federation.

Adesina further said the Federal Government wants to achieve full compliance with the adoption of the commodity.

“We had since begun the programme in some of the 12 pilot states,’’ stated he.

He listed the 12 pilot states as Bauchi, Lagos, Ebonyi, Gombe, Katsina, Sokoto, Enugu, Bayelsa, Delta, Ogun and Niger states as well as FCT Abuja,

He stressed that the government would soon activate the programme for the benefit of consumers.

The 36 states are expected to be covered within three years at the rate of 12 states per year, he stated.

Adesina as well said that the Federal Government would engage investors and marketers for effective implementation of the LPG adoption and expansion programme.

He added that the nationwide sensitisation campaign on gas adoption and expansion would involve participation of the conventional media, social media, traditional rulers, and community leaders so as to achieve wider and more effective coverage soon.

It is recalled the Federal Government recently said that it would roll out 10 million cylinders of cooking gas into circulation in order to increase access to the commodity.

The government, however, noted that distribution of the gas cylinders would be done through registered marketers in the country.
