US opens Web site for 4 free COVID-19 tests, to provide free N95 masks for consumers

In curbing further spread of the damaging Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the world’s leading economy, the United States (US) Government has opened a Web site for consumers to order free at-home COVID-19 tests online at .

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ gathered the administration officials disclosed that consumers would  be able to order up to four free tests.

Recall back in December 2021, this consumer-centric publication had reported that senior President Joe Biden’s administration officials indicated their desire to create a Web site so that Americans could order free COVID-19 tests.

In affirming the activation of the plan, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki had announced Tuesday that the Web site for this purpose would be opened to the public in its “beta phase” ahead of a full rollout Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

CNN also quoted a senior White House official as saying that the site is currently operating at a limited capacity.

The early launch, however, is reportedly meant to ensure that the Web site is fully operational so that consumers can use it without any issues.

The administration officials stated: “This is standard practice to address troubleshooting and ensure as smooth of an official launch tomorrow (Wednesday) as possible.

“We expect the website to officially launch mid-morning tomorrow.â€

On 4 free tests for consumers per household

According to information published on the new Web site, every household in the United States will be able to order four free at-home COVID-19 tests at no charge.

The orders should ship within 7-12 days.

The site also offers other resources for consumers who need COVID-19 tests more quickly than the shipping schedule, agency report stated.

It also includes information on insurance reimbursement, free testing sites, and retailers and pharmacies that offer at-home tests.

It is also noted the new Web site should provide the Biden administration with an opportunity to help meet its goal of buying 1 billion COVID-19 tests to give to Americans for free.

The tests, recently, have been in short supply due to a spike in new cases related to the Omicron variant of COVID-19, report said.

White House to provide free masks ─Officials

In a related development, and sequel to the announcement of a fresh Web site where Americans can order a free COVID-19 tests, the White House officials say they expect more help for millions of consumers to avoid getting sick amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports the officials disclosed the US Government is planning to provide free N95 masks at retail pharmacies across the American country.

A White House official stated that nonsurgical N95 masks would begin appearing at distribution centres across the US late next week, and the programme is expected to be fully operational by early February 2022, The Wall Street Journal report said.

According to the official, the mass nosemask distribution programme will be “the largest deployment of personal protective equipment in US history.â€
