Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) is recalling 16,616 model year 2022 Outlanders.

The automobile manufacturer said the commutator and wires inside the fuel pump may be fused incorrectly, potentially causing the fuel pump to fail.

The company noted that fuel pump failure could cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash in the process.

As regards what to do in rectifying the error, Mitsubishi Motors said dealers would 聽replace the fuel pump free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 18, 2022.
