*The Management of Integrity Hotels & Suites have complained about scammers鈥� defrauding many of their unwary customers through fake online room bookings

The Management of a Lagos hotel has raised the alarm on how scammers are targeting the firm’s clients by deceiving them into paying money into a private bank account belonging to the scammers instead of the hotel鈥檚 approved bank account for bookings.

It was gathered the Management of Integrity Hotels & Suites, located at Alagbon Close, on Victoria Island, in Lagos, disclosed the development, Vanguard report said.

The company noted that it uncovered plans by the scammers to swindle money from even more of its customers.

The hotel Management said some customers had complained that they were involved in series of unfulfilled hotel room bookings online without getting value for money after making payments into an individual鈥檚 account, who had claimed to be a manager of the hotel.

According to the Management, the fraudsters offered hotel room bookings on an online platform, but buyers purportedly did not receive their bookings after making payments.

Posing as the hotel managers, the scammers were reported to have diverted unwary clients’ thousands of Naira into their bank accounts, the dubious practice they reportedly began last year.

A staff of the hotel, who preferred to remain anonymous, said: 鈥淲e got complaints from customers that they made payments into the bank accounts of some people they contacted through a number displayed on the hotel site.

鈥淭hey have an online platform, and they include their contact number alongside our hotel鈥檚 name and address, making unsuspecting customers believe that they are the Management of our hotel.

“We don鈥檛 really know how much has been lost but we have been receiving calls from different customers reporting these scammers.鈥�

The hotel staff, therefore, appealed to the public to disregard or report anyone online posing as a staff of Integrity Hotels & Suites, Lagos.
