Drug Trafficking: NDLEA seizes 20.75kg liquid cocaine, arrests suspect in Abuja

*The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency discloses the anti-narcotics regulator’s operatives have intercepted a suspect with black liquid cocaine at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja

In the agency’s effort at ridding Nigeria of prohibited drugs and substance abuse, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says its operatives have intercepted suspect with black liquid cocaine at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), in Abuja, FCT.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports Mr. Femi Babafemi, Spokesman of the anti-narcotics regulatory agency, disclosed this development Sunday, March 20, 2022, in Abuja.

The NDLEA stated the operatives apprehended Okeke Adolphus Anayochukwu, a 52-year-old father of four children, who claims to be a businessman, in possession of the illegal drug.

Babafemi also said that Okeke was arrested with 20.75kgs of black liquid cocaine Tuesday, March 15 upon his arrival at the Abuja Airport aboard Qatar Airways flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil, through Doha, Qatar to Abuja.

He further stated: “The liquid was discovered upon search of his two luggage stuffed with six smaller bags containing 32-makeup mascara, which tested positive to cocaine.

“Married with four children, the indigene of Oraifiti in Akwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State claims he was a businessman dealing in children wares before delving into the illicit drug business.”

According to NDLEA, “he claimed he met the person who gave him the consignment to deliver in Nigeria for a fee of N2million at a drinking joint in Brazil.”

Similarly, in related operations across the country, the agency it’s operatives as well recovered different quantities of various drugs from suspects.

He said three persons, Tony Samson, Paul Adamu, and Reuben Waziri were arrested in Kaduna State Friday, 18th March with 18,380 tablets of Tramadol, and 12,500 tablets of Diazepam and Exol-5 tablets.

Also in Anambra State, NDLEA operatives Thursday 17th March intercepted a bus with Reg. No AGU 460 ZW, at Obosi bridge heading for Aba, in Abia State, from Onitsha, where seven-and-a-half jumbo sacks of cannabis weighing 362kgs were recovered, whereas the driver, Ifeanyi Anyamele admitted to being the owner of the drugs.

Meanwhile, Brig-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, has commended officers and men of the NAIA, Kaduna, Anambra and Ogun states’ Commands of the agency for their vigilance and diligence.

Marwa also charged them and their counterparts across Nigeria to always remain steps ahead of the tricks of drug traffickers and the barons.
