Pfizer recalls high BP medications over risks of cancer

In a move to safeguard the health of consumers, and two authorised generics distributed by Greenstone.

The phatmaceutical giant said the products, used for treatment of high blood pressure (BP), contain unacceptable levels of nitrosamine, which may increase the risk of cancer if people are exposed to them above acceptable levels over long periods of time.

However, Pfizer noted that the company is not aware of reports of adverse events to date.

A list of the recalled products, which were shipped to wholesalers and distributors in the United States (US) and Puerto Rico from November 2019 to March 2022, has been published, and can be viewed .

In connection with what to do in rectifying the error, Pfizer said patients who are taking this product should consult with their health care provider or pharmacy to determine if they have the affected product.

Patients who purchased the recalled products may call (888) 843-0247 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (ET) for instructions on how to return them and obtain reimbursement, report said.
