*The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria says there are no plans to jack up telecoms tariffs as ‘we guarantee that there will be continuous service availability to all citizens in all places at all times’

Telecommunications operations in Nigeria have ruled out a review of tariffs despite the comparatively higher cost of operations in the country.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports the Telcos recently barred tens of millions of outgoing calls to telecoms consumers who failed to link their Subscriber Identity Module (SIMs) Cards with National Identification Numbers (NINs).

Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, Chairman of Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), who disclosed this development on a Channels TV programme monitored Wednesday, April 6, 2022, in Lagos, noted that the telecoms operators are working with other stakeholders to ensure the best possible way to continue business without reviewing the tariffs.

“There are no such plans; we guarantee that there will be continuous service availability to all citizens in all places at all times.

“We don’t have plans for tariff reviews. We are consulting with our regulators and others in government to see what kind of sustainability we can have for the industry we have no immediate plans to review public tariffs.â€
