*The Zamfara State Government appoints Alhaji Mahe Garba Marafa, District Head of Yandoto, to take charge of affairs of the affected Emirate in the state

For purportedly acting irresponsibly in the face of continued attacks and killings of the innocent people of the state, the Zamfara State Government has suspended Aliyu Marafa, Emir of Birnin 鈥榊andoto of Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA), for conferring a chieftaincy title on certain Adamu Alero (Yankuzo), a 鈥渘otorious bandit leader鈥�.

绿帽献妻 reports Kabiru Sardauna, Secretary to Zamfara State Government (SSG),聽 announced the suspension in a statement issued Sunday, July 17.

Alero earlier was turbaned as Sarkin Fulani (Chief of Fulani) of Yandoto Emirate by the Emir.

However, news of the turbaning ceremony along with the event photos went viral, generating outcry and outrage among the populace.

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, besides聽 suspending the erring Emir, also approved the appointment of a Committee to investigate the circumstances leading to the unfortunate decision and action of the Emir.

The SSG noted the State Committee has Yahaya Goro as Chairman and Musa Garba as Secretary.

Other Committee members are Yahaya Kanoma, Muhammed Magaji, Lawal Zannah, Isa Moriki.

鈥淚n the meantime, Alh. Mahe Garba Marafa, who is the District Head of 鈥榊andoto is hereby assigned to take charge of the affairs of the Emirate,鈥� the statement said.

Earlier had indicated how several bandit group leaders and lieutenants arrived at the venue of the occasion on several motorbikes to celebrate with Aleru during his turbaning.

A source told Channels TV that the decision to make the bandits鈥� leader a chief was aimed at finding lasting peace in Tsafe and the Yandoton Daji Emirates, and other areas that were regularly attacked by Aleru-led gangs.

鈥淚t was aimed at providing lasting peace in the emirate, the emir told us that there is a peace accord between the emirate and the bandit group,鈥� the source said.

Similarly, an official from the palace who pleaded anonymity said that the title of Sarkin Fulani was conferred on Alero considering his present status as a 鈥榩eace-maker鈥� within the emirate.

鈥淭he chieftaincy title was given to him in appreciation of the peace reconciliation,鈥� he said.
