NTICE 2022: NCC holds maiden edition of Telecoms Indigenous Content Expo in Lagos

As part of Commision鈥檚 initiatives to advance indigenous content via innovation and commercialisation, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced it will host a special Expo tagged: “Nigerian Telecommunications Indigenous Content Expo (NTICE 2022)鈥� August 1-2, 2022, in Lagos.

The expo, which takes place at the 鈥嬧€婰andmark Centre, on Victoria Island, Lagos, has the theme,聽鈥淪timulating the Development of Indigenous Content through Innovation and Commercialisation鈥�.

Mr. Reuben Muoka, Director of Public Affairs at NCC, stated the Expo is open to participants from indigenous telecoms operators, manufacturers, regulators, government agencies, policy makers, innovators, influencers, industry leaders, startups, academia and global experts.

The Commission also noted that the participants are expected to showcase their products and services, innovative solutions, and new technologies in the country’s ecosystem.

绿帽献妻 had reported the Nigeria Office for Developing the Indigenous Telecom Sector (NODITS) would host the maiden edition of NTICE 2022, so as to promote the four focus areas of the NPPIC.

The NCC said that the focus areas are Manufacturing, Service and Software, People, Research and Development for innovation in line with the Presidential Mandate to diversify the economy.

In regard to the evolution of NODITS in the country鈥檚 ecosystem, the regulator disclosed as the Federal Government agency responsible for regulating the communications industry in Nigeria, it is a commitment to its mandate, as stipulated in the Nigerian Communications Act 2003, Section 1(d-f).

The NCC also said NODITS was established July 2021 to “vigorously pursue the implementation of the National Policy on the Promotion and Implementation of Indigenous Contents in the Telecommunications Sector (NPPIC) and to project the achievements of indigenous contents by government for the sector, among others.”

In order to attain these objectives, the NCC noted that NODITS targets to drive an all-inclusive participation of stakeholders and identify challenges and opportunities for strategic planning and enhanced performance.

The Expo is focused on bringing together all stakeholders in the communications value chain and serve as a platform where practicable ideas and solutions can be evolved for the purpose of stimulating demand and supply of indigenous solutions, technologies, capacity building, among others.
