Sequel to his swearing-in as the new Chief Executive, Governor (Senator) Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has frozen all state government’s bank accounts and also reversed the state鈥檚 name from ‘State of Osun’ to Osun State’.

The governor disclosed the development in his inaugural speech as the Governor of the South-West state Sunday, November 27, 2022.

Adeleke noted that the decision would be backed by the right orders.

绿帽献妻 reports聽 Adeleke was sworn in as the Governor of Osun State in a ceremony attended by top dignitaries and hundreds of residents.

The governor, at the ceremony held at the Osogbo City Stadium in the Osun State capital on Sunday, pledged to serve the people and tackle the challenges facing the State of the Living Spring’.

The 鈥楧ancing Senator鈥�, as he is called accused Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, his immediate predecessor, of taking some malicious actions against him, including the latter’s appointment of Permanent Secretaries before leaving office.

The new Osun State Governor, in his address, issued the following directives which will be backed up with appropriate Executive orders:

鈥淚mmediate freezing of all government accounts in banks and other financial institutions.

“Immediate establishment of a panel to carry out an inventory and recover all government assets.

“An immediate establishment of a panel to review all appointments and major decisions of the immediate past administration taken after the 17th of July, 2022.”

鈥淎n immediate reversal to the constitutionally recognised name of our state, Osun State.

“All government insignia, correspondences, and signages should henceforth reflect Osun State rather than State of Osun, which is unknown to the Nigerian constitution.鈥�

It is recalled he won the Osun State gubernatorial election in his second attempt.

Hitherto, Adeleke had lost election to Oyetola in 2018.

Besides, he promised to serve the people of the state but admitted that the challenges ahead are 鈥渆normous鈥�.

The governor also stated: 鈥淎s I accept the mantle of leadership entrusted upon me by the people of our dear state, I am conscious of the enormous challenges and responsibilities ahead of me and will begin from this hour workday and night with deep sense of purpose to be a servant to you all.”

Governance ‘no longer business as usual’ in Osun

The Osun State Governor said: 鈥淟et me state here that from the education, health, mining sector, agriculture, road infrastructure, and supply of potable water, let it be known to all that it is no longer going to be business as usual.

“And I repeat, it is no longer business as usual.

鈥淥ur administration will demonstrate a high sense of urgency, transparency, justice, and innovation to tackle and solve the problems of poverty, illiteracy, disease, and poor infrastructure.鈥�

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has stated 鈥渁s I accept the mantle of leadership entrusted upon me by the people of our dear state, I am conscious of the enormous challenges and responsibilities ahead of me and will begin from this hour workday and night with deep sense of purpose to be a servant to you all.”

He also pledged to reduce the poverty rate and deliver dividends of democracy to the citizenry, noting that it is no longer business as usual in the state.
