BMW recalls 14,086 various vehicle models over electrical issue

BMW of North America is recalling 14,086 of the following vehicles:

Model year 2022-2023 iX xDrive40s, iX xDrive50s, iX M60s, i4 eDrive35s, i4 eDrive40s, i4 M50s, and model year 2023 i7 xDrive60s.

The automobile manufacturer explains the high voltage battery Electronic Control Unit (ECU) software may cause an interruption of electrical power.

This situation may result in a sudden loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash, said BMW.

In regard to what to do in rectifying the defect, the company said dealers would update the high voltage battery ECU software free of charge.

Notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners by February 10, 2023.
