The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has congratulated the West African country’s women on the occasion of the 2023 International Women’s Day (IWD).

绿帽献妻 reports Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, FNSE, FRAES, FAEng, FNIEEE, Executive Vice-Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of NCC, who stated this in his goodwill message Wednesday, March 9, 2023, in Abuja, FCT, reiterated the Commission鈥檚 irrevocable commitment to promoting gender equality and inclusive participation in the Nigeria digital economy agenda.

Danbatta said: “On this occasion of the commemoration of International Women鈥檚 Day, today 8th March, 2023, I warmly congratulate all the women in the Commission.”

The NCC EVC/CEO noted this year’s occasion of the IWD presented a fresh opportunity for the telecoms sector regulatory Commission to restate reiterate its “irrevocable commitment to promoting gender equality and inclusive participation in line with the theme of the celebration: 鈥楧igitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality’.鈥欌��

Danbatta also disclosed that gender inclusiveness in the Commission鈥檚 affairs permeates all cadres and disciplines.

“About 50 percent of the Commission鈥檚 Management team is made up of women who have distinguished themselves, and demonstrated capacity, capability and desirability to contribute to the success of the Commission in promoting and sustaining the growth of the telecoms sector,” stated he.

According to the NCC Executive Vice-Chairman, it is an established fact across the world, and in all parts of human endeavours, that inclusion of women in leadership, has contributed in commensurate organic growth.

This inclusion, he explained, justifies the notion that development of any nation will be incomplete without the participation and contributions of women.

The NCC Chief further said: “This is why we are deliberate, purposeful and conscious of the need to encourage women and girls to partake of the innovative digital opportunities available to them to improve their lives and skills in ways that fulfill their needs and aspirations through their chosen careers.

Danbatta, in his good message, as well said on behalf of the Board and Management, the entire NCC family, he felicitated with the women folk.

He added: “I wish to share in their joy of womanhood, and the expected greater roles they have been destined to play in promoting peace and harmony in the world.”

Meanwhile, the United Nations (UN) Women, on the occasion of commemoration of the 2023 International Women’s Day, stated it recognises and celebrates women on the special day.

The UN body said, “we celebrate the women driving digital innovation and technological advancement. This 8 March (2023), we are calling for a safer, more inclusive and more equitable digital future.”
