For their dedication to duty while displaying the agency’s culture of excellence, Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has decorated three Deputy Commanders General of Narcotics (DCGNs) and four Assistant Commanders General of Narcotics (ACGNs) among 3,248 newly promoted and regularised officers and men of the agency.

绿帽献妻 reports the ceremony held Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the anti-narcotics regulatory agency鈥檚 headquarters in Abuja, FCT, witnessed how 12 state commands and 148 other personnel got awards and commendations for their outstanding performances in the first half this year.

Speaking at the event, Marwa said that elevation of the deserving personnel showed that the NDLEA had entrenched the culture of excellence in its workforce.

The Chairman/CEO also noted: 鈥淲ithout grandstanding, we can say that we have raised the bar.

“Our weekly drug supply reduction effort is a testament to our performance.”

He further related “the innovative approach we have taken to drug demand reduction is commendable.

鈥淭he intricate and effective intelligence we deploy to track drug barons and dismantle cartels is a testimony to the capability of the new NDLEA we have collectively forged.”

Marwa said: “Our success rate at prosecution is a definitive statement that we are doing our job.

鈥淥ur fears have been allayed about what tomorrow holds for the NDLEA and its personnel.”

The Chief Executive of the agency also stated: “Even while we are still in a state of rapid evolution, there have been seismic changes, and we have evolved a better, more efficient and sustainable system that guarantees viable work conditions, good staff welfare, and enhanced job performance.

“We have since been able to settle the problem of career progression by expanding the agency鈥檚 structures.鈥�

Collaborations with other agencies for excellent results

In respect of partnerships with both several partners to perform their responsibilities, Marwa said: “We are cooperating more with regional opposites and international partners.

“All these translate into ample opportunities for upward mobility for focused, hardworking officers.鈥�

In terms of the NDLEA achievements in the last two-and-a-half years, Marwa further disclosed that the regulator had witnessed a lot of changes in the country.

鈥淲e have tried to reward hard work and professionalism by granting higher responsibilities to officers.

“Everyone to whom promotion is due has been considered,” stated he.

The NDLEA Chief said: “We are also expanding training opportunities.

“In the last 18 months, we have conducted over 150 trainings, involving more than 6,000 officers.”

He, therefore, encouraged the agency鈥檚 personnel not to rest on their oars as regards their offensive against drug trafficking and substance abuse in the Nigerian economy.

Responses from newly promoted officers and men

On behalf of the promoted and honoured officers, DCGN Joyce Titus-Awogbuyi expressed appreciation to Marwa for providing the inspiring leadership for the NDLEA and motivating the personnel to break barriers and excel in their areas of responsibility.

Titus-Awogbuyi said the latest promotion and commendations would encourage her and others to contribute more towards making Nigeria a drugs-free society.
