The Presidential Precinct, an organisation based in the United States (US) says it is “proud to announce Ms. Toyosi Ogunseye” as its new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

绿帽献妻 reports Ogunseye, who is a programme alumna and 2014 Mandela Washington Fellow, will lead the organisation鈥檚 next chapter.

Drew Precious, Director of Communications at The Presidential Precinct, in an announcement via the organisation’s Web site August 30, 2023, stated the Nigerian media professional “is only the second to take this role at The Presidential Precinct, following nearly a decade of transformational leadership” from Founding Director Neal Piper.

Precious disclosed that few individuals are closer to the mission of the Presidential Precinct than Ogunseye, who The Presidential Precinct said began her tenure with the organisation as a 2014 Mandela Washington Fellow.

The organisation noted the Nigerian “has engaged consistently as a programme alumna since.”

Responding to her new appointment to lead the organisation, Ogunseye, who will be leaving her current position as a Senior New Editor at BBC in the UK, said: “I’m honoured to have this opportunity to lead such an impactful organisation nine years after I first walked through its doors.

鈥淚 look forward to innovative collaborations with our staff, Board, programme alumni, and community partners in Williamsburg and Charlottesville.”

The new Presidential Precinct Chief Executive also assured stakeholders: “Working together, we will expand and elevate tools and resources that have distinguished the Presidential Precinct as a transformative public diplomacy organisation.鈥�

As the current President and CEO of The Presidential Precinct, Ogunseye has two decades of leadership experience in journalism, most recently serving as a Senior News Editor for News and Commissioning at the BBC.

The Nigerian began her tenure with the BBC as Head of Language Services for West Africa.

Before joining the BBC in the UK, Ogunseye was the first female Editor in the 50-year history of The Punch Newspaper.

She also recently concluded her term as Vice-President of the World Editors Forum and Board member of the World Association of News Publishers.

How Toyosi clinches the President/CEO position

According to Precious, Ogunseye’s appointment followed a competitive international search campaign, led by the Precinct鈥檚 Executive Committee in partnership with Lincoln Leadership.

Jim Murray, Founder and Board Chair of The Presidential Precinct, also remarked, that “Toyosi鈥檚 experience combined with partnerships and resources that we have established over the past ten years will guarantee a bright future at the Precinct.”

Murray noted: “We began this search process by looking far and wide; little did we know that after six months of exhaustive outreach and networking, one of our own would be stepping in to lead.

“I am grateful for Toyosi鈥檚 longstanding commitment to the Precinct. We have much to look forward to.鈥�
