President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has disclosed the Federal Government of Nigeria is introducing provisional wage increments without causing inflation in the country’s economy.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports President Tinubu stated this in his nationwide address on the occasion of the West African country’s 63rd Independence Anniversary October 1, 2023.

The President, who affirmed that Nigeria “is remarkable in its formation and essential character”, noted that in view of his administration officials’ talks with the Organised Labour, business and other stakeholders in the economy, the government is introducing “a provisional wage increment to enhance the Federal Minimum Wage without causing undue inflation.”

Tinubu also assured Nigerian consumers that for the next six months, the “average low-grade worker shall receive an additional Twenty-Five Thousand Naira per month.”

Also as part of the government’s efforts at ensuring better grassroots development, the President said the current administration had set up an Infrastructure Support Fund for states to invest in critical areas of development in the Nigerian economy.

“States have already received funds to provide relief packages against the impact of rising food and other prices,” Tinubu stated in his Independence Anniversary speech on Sunday.
