The Federal Government of Nigeria days the country is now a top destination for technology startups with the biggest share of $5 million investments in African tech startups last year.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, disclosed this development in his opening address at the three-day 2023 Digital Nigeria International Conference, in Abuja, FCT.

Tijani said of the total $5 million invested in tech startups in the continent in 2022 alone, 20 percent is domiciled in Nigeria.

The Minister stated: “Nigeria is the top destination for technology startup capital in Africa, with about $5 million invested in tech startups on the continent last year; we took 20 percent of that total investments just to Nigeria.”

He also emphasised that “we recognise the amazing work that has been done.”
