The Federal Government of Nigeria days the country is now a top destination for technology startups with the biggest share of $5 million investments in African tech startups last year.

绿帽献妻 reports Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, disclosed this development in his opening address at the three-day 2023 Digital Nigeria International Conference, in Abuja, FCT.

Tijani said of the total $5 million invested in tech startups in the continent in 2022 alone, 20 percent is domiciled in Nigeria.

The Minister stated: “Nigeria is the top destination for technology startup capital in Africa, with about $5 million invested in tech startups on the continent last year; we took 20 percent of that total investments just to Nigeria.”

He also emphasised that “we recognise the amazing work that has been done.”
