Advisory Committee constituted to help stabilise Nigerian economy, says Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has constituted a tripartite Economic Advisory Committee, stating the arrangement is  part of his administration’s efforts at stabilising the  Nigerian economy currently facing headwinds.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports President Tinubu assembled and announced the birth of the Committee during a meeting with critical stakeholders Sunday, February 25, 2024, in the State House, Abuja, FCT.

The new Economic Advisory Committee comprises representatives from the Federal and State governments as well as the Organised Private Sector (OPS) in the country.

Tinubu said: “We are doing what we can do right to bring life back to the economy.

“Like I said many times, the people of this country are only the people we have to pleased.

“And we are very much concerned. From students, to mothers, the fathers, farmers, the traders.”

The Nigerian leader also stated: “Realising that everyone of us will have to fetch water from the same well, we are looking for additional efforts that might help the downtrodden Nigerians, and we will provide that hope and assurance that economic recovery is on its way.

“We are not saying that we have all the answers, but we will not be blamed for not trying.â€

Some members of the private sector include Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President/Chief Executive of Dangote Group; Chairman of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu; ex-Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and  Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, among  other distinguished personalities.

Speaking after the meeting with the President , Dangote told reporters, that their discussion focused mainly on the economy, food security, and job creation. The Africa’s richest man also assured Nigerians, that the Committee would look at all the issues and address them.

Governor Soludo of Anambra State also said the committee would meet time to time and make recommendations to the President on economic matters affecting the country and the citizenry.
