Mercedes-Benz recalls 105,071 GLE, GLS 450 vehicles over defective transmission software

*Mercedes-Benz USA warns auto consumers a transmission software issue may cause a stall in the affected vehicle models

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) is recalling 105,071 model year 2020-2023 GLE 450 and GLS 450 vehicles.

The leading automobile manufacturer explained the transmission of the affected vehicle models may not downshift fully in certain conditions, causing the engine to stall, posing a crash risk, ConsumerAffairs report said.

In regard to what auto consumers need to do in addressing the defect, Mercedes-Benz said the dealers would update the transmission control unit software free of charge.

Letters notifying owners of this recall are expected to be mailed April 16, 2024.
