Sequel to its receipt of two mandatory occurrence reports on the local airline, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed it received some complaints from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (UKCAA), its British counterpart, over Air Peace Airline operations at the Gatwick Airport, in London, United Kingdom (UK).

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ learnt UKCAA had reported Air Peace to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority over the indigenous airline’s alleged non-compliance with some safety regulations in the UK.

Michael Achimugu, Spokesman for the NCAA, Monday, May 20, 2024, acknowledged that the Nigerian aviation industry regulator received some complaints from its British counterpart over Air Peace operations at the Gatwick Airport, in London.

Achimugu disclosed the safety concerns were raised against Air Peace during a ramp inspection by UKCAA, report stated.

The two mandatory occurrence reports on Air Peace were sent to the UKCAA, which subsequently forwarded the complaints to its Nigerian counterpart.

The Spokesman of NCAA also noted that the regulator had written Air Peace to clarify the issues raised about its operations at Gatwick Airport.

It was further learnt the complaints raised by the UKCAA fell under less serious categories of violations and not the Level 1 category, which is for serious safety non-compliance.

Achimugu was quoted to have said: “The complaints do not mean that the airline can no longer operate at the Gatwick airport. The NCAA has communicated the complaints to the airline. Investigation is ongoing.â€
