Digital Connectivity: NCC activates Centre of Excellence for tech and vocational skills trainings

As part of the its collaborative initiatives with diverse stakeholders to deepen connectivity in the country’s digital ecosystem, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has commissioned a new Centre of Excellence, in Abuja, FCT.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports the telecoms sector regulatory Commission recently disclosed newly activated Centre of Excellence, powered by Nokia, is aimed at providing Nigerians with “technical and vocational skills to support the digital economy.â€

In his remarks on the occasion, the NCC quoted Dr. ’Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, as saying: “My expectation is that NCC will collaborate with more stakeholders to make this initiative a true Centre of Excellence for Africa.

“There is no society in the world that can prosper without connectivity. The connectivity requires human for its proper functioning.â€

Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of the NCC, also remarked: “This is the first time in Nigeria when our radio engineers will have the opportunity to come and touch and feel what a radio looks likes.â€

Maida averred that with the 5G technology era and the skill that engineers and other Nigerians will acquire, “we would actually see a lot of innovations through this Centre.â€
