The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), one of the electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos), has urged encouraged power consumers in its franchise network to register for electricity meter acquisition through the dedicated platform.

IBEDC disclosed the company has provided prepayment electricity meters in order to enhance power supply to its customers in Oyo State, South-West Nigeria.

The DisCo noted it has created a platform to enable consumers to register for the meters.

It stated that no payments should be made through to third parties to avoid any infractions.

The company, in a recent statement, said: “The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) is delighted to announce the availability of meters, following the recent acquisition of a new stock through the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) Scheme.

“This initiative aims to improve service delivery and address concerns over estimated billing among our valued customers.â€

Engr. Francis Agoha, Acting Managing Director of IBEDC, in the statement, encouraged customers to register for meter acquisition through the dedicated platform at msms.ibedc.com.

According to the DisCo, this platform has been designed under the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) Scheme to ensure a seamless and secure metering experience for all our customers.

In connection with reports on unauthorised individuals collecting cash payments for electricity meters and other services, Agoha urged IBEDC power consumers against making cash payments to third parties.

He also stated: “To safeguard your transactions, we recommend visiting our official Web site at msms.ibedc.com for meter registration and payments.”

The company also disclosed it provides multiple secure payment options, including IBEDCpay, USSD, 24-hour Self-Service Kiosks, IRecharge, and Fets Wallet, designed to facilitate convenient and secure customer transactions.

However, for those consumers making cash payments due to limited access to online services, Engr. Agoha underscores the importance of obtaining a valid receipt for every transaction.

The Acting Managing Director added: “Ensure the receipt issued bears the customer copy to prevent any potential fraud.

“We urge all customers to exercise caution and refrain from engaging with unauthorised agents claiming to represent IBEDC.”
