Youth Development: Sanwo-Olu earmarks N5bn for new Lagos NYSC Orientation Camp, gifts N100,000 each to Corps members

For the young, energy Nigerians to make positive impacts in their respective communities in the state, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has counselled the 2024 Batch B, Stream 1 Corps members posted to Lagos to apply lessons of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork during their three-week orientation course.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the admonition Tuesday, July 16, 2024, while addressing the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members at the Orientation Camp in the lyana Ipaja area of Lagos for the closing ceremony of the Batch ‘B’, Stream One orientation course.

The Governor of Lagos State also made some announcements Tuesday at the Lagos NYSC Orientation Camp.

Jubril A. Gawat, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on New Media, via his verified social media account, disclosed Sanwo-Olu @jidesanwoolu announced a sum of N5billion for the construction of a new Permanent Site for Lagos NYSC Orientation Camp.

Sanwo-Olu equally gifted N100,000 for each to Youth Corps members passing out Tuesday.

The governor’s aide stated the fund would be delivered next week directly into the Corps members’ bank accounts.

Besides, the governor announced the provision of automatic employment into the Lagos Public Service for the best 100 Corps members after the National Service year, for  batch Batch B, Stream One set.

According to Gawat, the Lagos State Government Tuesday also delivered a 32-Seater Hyundai Bus to the Management of the NYSC in Lagos State.

Sanwo-Olu urged the Corps members to make positive impacts in their respective communities during the National Service.

Earlier in his address at the NYSC Camp on the Corps members’ preparation for the tasks ahead during the Service year, had said: “Over the past three weeks, you have been immersed in a transformative experience.

“You have learned to adapt to new environments, network with fellow compatriots from diverse backgrounds, and embrace the challenges that come with communal living.”

The governor further stated: “This experience has not only prepared you for the tasks ahead, but has also instilled a deep sense of unity that transcends ethnic, cultural, and regional boundaries.

“As you bid farewell to this orientation camp and proceed to your various primary assignments, you must recognise the significance of this program in fostering national unity.”

He noted: “This orientation camp has been a microscopic representation of Lagos State, a melting pot of cultures, languages, and traditions, and you have experienced first-hand the strength that comes from diversity.

“I am confident that you all will carry this understanding with you as you contribute to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria at large.â€

He as well charged the young Nigerians to actively engage with local communities, address challenges, and contribute meaningful projects to their community.

The governor urged them to exemplify the lessons of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork wherever they find themselves.

Sanwo-Olu admonished Corps members: “As you leave this camp, remember that the road ahead is illuminated with possibilities, and you have been equipped with new skills, new perspectives, and the determination to create a positive impact.

“The experiences you’ve gained during these three weeks have prepared you to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”
