President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured Nigerian consumers of his administration鈥檚 commitment to taking concrete steps to address food security and reduce hunger in the country.

绿帽献妻 reports President Tinubu, who gave the assurance in his national broadcast protest morning Sunday, August 4, 2024, disclosed that he had been meeting with governors and key Ministers in his cabinet on practical measures to accelerate food production.

According to him, this comes with a target to cultivate over 10 million hectares of land to grow essential food crops.

Tinubu stated: 鈥淥ur target is to cultivate more than 10 million hectares of land to grow what we eat.

鈥淭he Federal Government will provide all necessary incentives for this initiative, whilst the states provide the land, which will put millions of our people to work and further increase food production.鈥�

The Nigerian leader also averred that the Federal Government would provide necessary incentives, while states of the Federation would provide land in move to put millions of Nigerians to work and increase food production in the West African country.

The President equally said that his administration had ordered mechanised farming equipment, including tractors and planters, worth billions of Naira as part of measures at enhancing agricultural productivity in Nigeria.

鈥淲e have also ordered mechanised farming equipment such as tractors and planters, worth billions of Naira from the United States, Belarus, and Brazil. I can confirm to you that the equipment is on the way,鈥� stated he.

He further noted that the mechanised farming equipment are on the way to Nigeria, demonstrating his administration鈥檚 commitment to tackling food insecurity while ensuring that Nigerian consumers have access to affordable and nutritious food in the country.

Government listening, addressing the concerns of citizens, says Tinubu

In connection with the nationwide protest over economic hardship, President Tinubu told Nigerians, especially the youths of his administration鈥檚 commitment to addressing their concerns.

He stated: 鈥淚 have heard you loud and clear. I understand the pain and frustration that drive these protests, and I want to assure you that our government is committed to listening and addressing the concerns of our citizens.

鈥淏ut we must not let violence and destruction tear our nation apart. We must work together to build a brighter future, where every Nigerian can live with dignity and prosperity.鈥�

He further said: 鈥淭he task before us is a collective one, and I am leading the charge as your President. A lot of work has gone into stabilising our economy and I must stay focused on ensuring that the benefits reach every single Nigerian as promised.

鈥淢y administration is working very hard to improve and expand our national infrastructure and create more opportunities for our young people.

鈥淟et nobody misinform and miseducate you about your country or tell you that your government does not care about you.鈥�
