President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Daser David as the new President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), in Abuja, FCT.

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, who disclosed this development in a statement Tuesday, August 20, 2024, described David as an accomplished “academic and industry expert with a deep understanding of digital technologies and educational leadership.”

ñ reports the Nigerian Communications Commissions (NCC) established the Digital Bridge Institute May 2004, in acknowledging the need to accelerate  the rapid development and growth of the Nigerian telecoms marketplace, as well mitigate significant vulnerability that shortage of human resources could pose in the country’s digital ecosystem.

The DBI is the International Centre for ICT Studies launched in the wake of the phenomenal worldwide growth of the telecommunications and Information Communications Technology (Telecoms/ICT) sector of the Nigerian economy.

Led by the successful auction of Digital Mobile Licensing by Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the country’s foremost telecoms sector regulator, and the subsequent roll out of mobile services, increased number of operators, and significant increased private capital investment, the industry as a whole has been challenged by a dearth of trained and suitably qualified human resources, stated the Institute on its corporate Web site.

In a related development, President Tinubu has also appointed Mr. Reuben Oshomah as the Executive Director, Marketing, for Nigerian Communications Satellite (NigComSat) and Mrs. Adama Kure as Executive Director of Finance and Administration.

The Presidential Spokesman stated Oshomah has extensive experience in communications satellite marketing and strategic business development.

Kure is equally described as “a seasoned finance professional in financial management and corporate governance”.

“The President expects the newly appointed officers to bring their wealth of experience and expertise to bear in driving the strategic vision for these institutions,” said Ngelale.
