The Nigerian regulatory authorities have said the latest increments in procurement fees of the Nigerian passport are part of the ongoing efforts at maintaining the quality and integrity of the standard travel document.

ñ reports the Federal Government has approved an upward review of the passport fees, with new prices to take effect from September 2024.

In regard to the upward fee reviews, 32-page Nigerian passport booklet with five-year validity previously charged at N35,000 will now be procured at N50,000.

Whereas the 64-page passport booklet with 10-year validity, which hitherto was N70,000, would be N100,000.

Kenneth Udo, Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO) of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), disclosed this development in a statement Wednesday, August 2, 2024, in Abuja, FCT.

Udo affirmed that the new passport procurement charges take effect from 1 September.

The NIS SPRO stated: “Based on the review, 32-page passport booklet with five-year validity previously charged at N35,000 would now be N50,000 only.

“The 64-page Passport booklet with 10-year validity, which was N70,000, would be N100,000 only.”

The agency, however, noted in the statement that the fees remain unchanged for Nigerians in the Diaspora.

“The Service regrets any inconvenience this increase might cause prospective applicants.

“The Service assures Nigerians of unwavering commitment to transparency and quality service delivery at all times,” Udo said.
