BMW is recalling 720,796 electric vehicles (EVs) because a water pump connector may short circuit and cause a fire.

绿帽献妻 gathered the leading automobile manufacturer said the current recalls affect 12 makes and model years of the company鈥檚 brand of vehicles.

The United States (US) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Tuesday, August 20, 2024, disclosed the BMW鈥檚 current recall affects models and makes ranging from the years 2012 to 2016, including hybrids and gasoline-powered cars.

The NHTSA stated that an improperly-sealed electrical connector can cause water to enter from the water pump and prompt a short circuit.

BMW also noted that reports of fires raised concerns about the short circuit problem, started March 2024, agency report said.

In connection with what consumers should do in addressing the defect, BMW said at no charge, affected car owners could approach auto dealers to inspect and replace the water pump and plug connector and install a protective shield.

BMW as well stated that it expects to send owners letters October 4 this year, according to report.
