The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has intensified efforts at enhancing the lot of the startup ecosystem in Nigeria with the provision of financial support to 鈥渁 dedicated fund鈥� backing local startups working on economic and social development initiatives.

绿帽献妻 reports Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Director-General of NITDA, as part of such ongoing collaborations with the stakeholders recently met with the JICA team to receive an update on the progress of the 鈥淧reparatory Survey and Grant Assistance鈥� project aimed at fostering a supportive environment for social startups.

The Information Technology (IT) sector regulatory agency, in a message via its verified social media account, Friday, September 13, 2024, affirmed the grant is designed to enhance the startup ecosystem by providing financial support to a dedicated fund that backs local startups working on economic and social development initiatives.

The agency also noted the move is 鈥渋n line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration’s priority area of accelerating diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, manufacturing and innovation.鈥�

NITDA said: 鈥淭he project aims to establish an onshore fund management system, further driving innovation to address key social challenges.鈥�
