Nigerian Vice-President (Senator) Kashim Shettima, at the behest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Sunday, September 22, 2024, departed Abuja, FCT, for New York, in the United States (US), to attend the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

President Tinubu recently directed the Vice-President Shettima to lead the Nigerian delegation to the high-level global forum in the US.

While there, he will focus on addressing pressing domestic issues, including the recent devastating flood disaster.

Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Media and Communications (Office of The Vice President), Sunday stated during the session, the Vice-President would deliver Nigeria’s national statement, participate in key meetings on the sidelines of the event, and engage in bilateral meetings.

The statement the high-level General Debate with theme, “Leaving no one behind: Acting Together for the Advancement of Peace, Sustainable Development and Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations,” is scheduled to hold September 24-28 this year.
