The average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), otherwise known as Cooking Gas, increased by 69.15 percent from N9,194 in August 2023 to N15,552 August 2024, on a year-on-year basis, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ checks in Lagos and Ogun States also revealed that the energy crisis situation, amid attendant price hikes in several parts of Nigeria, has caused unease among several consumers with loads of complaints over the equally rising cost of living (COL) in the country in recent times.

Others have equally taken a swipe at the DisCos’ increasing cost of electricity supply with somewhat ‘forced migration to Band A’ category of power consumers, citing little or no hope in sight for alternative energy options for some respite.
