The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) Friday, September 27, 2024, shut Orchid Shopping Centre’s premises, located along Orchid Road, Eti-Osa, for discharging wastewater onto the road and public drains.

The Lagos State Government (LASG) agency said the business premises had created environmental nuisance, endangering public health in the area.

Tokunbo Wahab, Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, in Lagos State, who disclosed this development Friday via his verified social media account urged all persons or organisations in the habit of discharging untreated wastewater and sewage into the environment to desist or face sanctions.

The Commissioner also assured the public that the necessary sanctions would be served on the property, the owner(s) and occupiers in line with the provisions of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017.

The Lagos State Government has zero tolerance for environmental pollution and degradation, said Wahab.
