The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, October 1, 2024, as a public holiday to commemorate the country’s 64th Independence Anniversary.

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Honourable Minister for Interior, who announced the holiday on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement Friday, September 28, 2024, congratulated Nigerians at home and overseas on the occasion of the 64th Independence Anniversary.

Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, in the statement said Dr. Tunji-Ojo commended the patient and hardworking Nigerian men and women, stating that their sacrifices would not be in vain.

The Minister also restated the need for the citizenry to reflect on the labour of “our heroes past”, and be inspired for the tasks ahead, realising that a Nigeria of “our dream can only be built when we unite.”

Tunji-Ojo urged the citizens to continue to be steadfast in nation-building while wishing Nigerians a Happy Independence Day Anniversary.
