In line with the aviation regulatory agency’s consumer protection mandate and as the festive season draws near, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has encouraged air travellers to become more informed about their experiences and challenges while travelling via the airports in the country.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports Michael Achimugu, Head of Consumer Protection at NCAA, noted this Saturday, December 7, 2024, during a road walk in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

Achimugu affirmed this is the heavy travel season in the West African country, and several of air travellers should be properly sensitised about the cause of delays and solutions to the recurring problem in the aviation sector.

The NCAA Head of Consumer Protection also stated: “We’re now in the high travel season in aviation and as you know there’s been a lot of flight disruptions as well as a lot of complaints.

“Our duty at NCAA is to sensitise our passengers because most of the time when complaints come about these disruptions, they come from a place of poor knowledge about their rights and responsibilities as air passengers.â€

Achimugu averred: “We must protect both the passenger and the airline.â€
