The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has restated its commitment to developing a robust national cybersecurity architecture and fostering inclusive policymaking in the Nigerian digital ecosystem.

ñ reports Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Director-General of NITDA, underscored this stance Monday, December 16, 2024, in his presentation at the 19th Annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This year’s IGF with the theme, “Building Our Multistakeholder Digital Future”, attracted global leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss critical issues shaping the digital landscape.

The IGF offers a valuable platform to collaborate with international stakeholders and explore innovative solutions to address the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.

NITDA, in blog note via its verified social media account, disclosed Inuwa especially participated in the session titled, “Digital Transformation and Sovereignty: A Route to Autarchy”.

The Director-General of the Information Technology (IT) sector regulatory agency reiterated its commitment to developing a robust national cybersecurity architecture and fostering inclusive policymaking in Nigeria.

He also highlighted the significance of “balancing digital sovereignty with global interconnectedness”.

The agency as well noted Inuwa “contributed to the global discourse on digital governance” by sharing Nigeria’s experiences and insights with the global audience.

NITDA related that the session’s closing message highlighted the significance of collaboration across all sectors and regions to maintain the Internet as a global resource.

Stakeholders from digitally transformed, high-risk areas equally shared their experiences, offering strategies to balance digital sovereignty with the need for global interconnectedness.
