The Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA) Monday, January 13, 2025, impeached Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa as the Speaker.

绿帽献妻 reports the Lagos State Legislature had accused Obasa of multiple statutory and financial infractions.

Members of the LSHA subsequently elected Deputy Speaker (Hon.) Mrs. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda as the new Speaker.

Mrs. Meranda, representing Apapa Constituency 1, was also a former Chief Whip of the House of Assembly.

Hon. Mojeed Fatai is now the Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

It is recalled that Obasa has been engulfed in a series of controversial circumstances in connection with financial dealings and alleged official corruption over time.

Recently, former Speaker was also accused of purportedly spending N17 billion to fix a gate that leads to the State Assembly, at Alausa-Ikeja, in Lagos.
