The Station Managers of the Lagos State Government (LASG) owned broadcast organisations are taking stock of the violence visited on the premises by striking union members.

The affected broadcast stations – LTV, Radio Lagos/Eko 89.7FM and Traffic Radio – have been forced off the air for 48 hours by some workers, who destroyed studio doors and assaulted presenters on duty.

The aggrieved workers also switched off transmitters and cut off cables – in unprecedented acts of violence captured on video.

It is also recalled that several workers were whipped for shunning the strike, which is to force the Lagos Government to put about 400 workers on the civil service payroll.

Afolabi Ayantayo, HC, Establishments and Training, who noted these in a statement Tuesday, January 14, 2025, in Lagos, said despite the channels of communication open to the unions to explore in the state, the leadership of NLC, RATTAWU, and NUJ rather chose the path of violence, both in language and actions.

Ayantayo stated: “The strike, which the Managers have described as an attack and disrespect for the authorities, have left doubts about the desire of the leadership of NLC, RATTAWU and NUJ in Lagos to ensure an amicable resolution of the crisis.

“Leaders of the Unions have been invited to another meeting on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, on the issues at dispute.”
