Having discovered brake and door hinge issues in the some of the leading auto brand鈥檚 vehicles, Ford Motor Company is recalling 2.5 million vehicles worldwide, including hundreds of thousands in the United States and Canada, model year 2011-2014 Fiestas, model year 2013-2014 Fusions, model year 2015 Mustangs, and model year 2013-2015 Escapes & C-Maxs.

绿帽献妻 learnt others are model year 2012-2015 Focus vehicles, model year 2014-2016 Transit Connects, model year 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZs, and model year 2015 MKs respectively.

The company stressed that a door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to an occupant.

The first recall covers 2.1 million Ford vehicles, and has to do with the rear door latch. The latch can fail, letting the doors open on their own, even while the vehicle is still moving.

Previous recalls to fix this issue may not have seen the proper latches replaced, or the repairs may not have been done correctly.

Affected models include the 2011 through 2014 Ford Fiesta; 2012 through 2015 Ford Focus; the 2013 and 2014 Ford Fusion; and the 2013 through 2015 Ford Escape and C-Max.

Also included in the campaign are the 2013 and 2014 Lincoln MKZ; 2014 through 2016 Ford Transit Connect van; 2015 Lincoln MKC; and 2015 Ford Mustang.

The second recall affects almost 344,000 F-150 pickup trucks in the U.S. and Canada from model years 2014 through 2017, and has to do with the braking system.

According to Ford, brake fluid can leak from the master cylinder onto the front-wheel circuit.

A loss of brake fluid can lead to an ineffective brake pedal, and make the vehicle difficult or impossible to bring to a stop, so it鈥檚 important to have this fixed as soon as possible.

All of the recalled trucks have the 3.5-litre turbocharged V6. Ford will replace the brake master cylinder and the brake booster if it is leaking.

For latch recalls, affected owners are asked to inspect the latch date codes and check with Ford to confirm if it needs to be replaced.

If you don鈥檛 want to do the inspection and think the latch needs to be replaced, take your vehicle to a Ford dealer.

Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicles鈥� door latches and enter the date codes into a Web site to determine if the latches are correct.

This recall is expected to begin Monday, July 20, 2020.
