In a bid to implement essential adjustments to the Nigerian public examination body’s registration templates, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) will begin Monday, February 3, 2025, instead of January 31.

Fabian Benjamin, Spokesperson of JAMB, disclosed this development Friday, January 31.

Benjamin stated that this change has become essential to allow the Board to effect essential adjustments to its registration templates.

Rationale for adjustments in UTME registration templates

JAMB explained the  adjustments come in regard to the recent suspension of certain Law programmes in selected universities, and as approved and submitted by the Council for Legal Education.

According to the Board, it was equally discovered that some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres had used deceptive facilities to be approved, prompting the need for further scrutiny and corrections by disapproving such centres henceforth.

Benjamin stated: “The Board acknowledges the disruption this may cause to candidates and other stakeholders and sincerely apologises for any inconvenience.”

The additional time will be used to ensure that all necessary changes are made to ensure a smooth registration process for exam candidates.

No admissions for Law programme in 8 Universities

Following the ban on admissions into Law programme in selected Universities, the Management of JAMB said the Board would not approve any admissions for candidates seeking to enroll in the programme at the affected universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Below are the universities where the Council of Legal Education suspended law programme:

  1. Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State

  3. Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State
  4. Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State

  6. Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
  7. Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, and
