Sequel to additional revenues generated the key Nigerian Government agencies have garnered, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has increased the proposed 2025 Budget from N49.7 trillion to N54.2 trillion.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports President Tinubu has transmitted the adjusted budget estimates in separate letters to both the Senate and the House of Representatives, in the National Assembly (NASS), Abuja, FCT, for consideration and harmonisation.

Subsequently, Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the plenary Wednesday, February 5, 2025, read the letter conveying the information on Tinubu’s budget adjustment.

The Nigerian leader explained the increase in the country’s 2025 Budget proposal was informed by N1.4 trillion in additional revenue from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), N1.2 trillion from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), and N1.8 trillion generated by other Federal government agencies.

Following the announcement to the Senators Wednesday, Senator Akpabio referred the President’s request to the Senate Committee on Appropriations for urgent consideration.

The Senate President also assured the lawmakers that the budget would be finalised and passed before the end of this month.

The National Assembly is expected to fast-track deliberations on the adjusted budget towards ensuring timely approval and implementation of Nigeria’s 2025 Budget.
