As part of its collaborative efforts at ensuring improved Quality of Service (QoS) by the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) for enhanced consumer experience in the telecoms space, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has signed a grant agreement with SWEDFUND to fund a Crowdsourcing Quality of Experience Project.

ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ reports the Nigerian Communications Commission disclosed Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of the Commission, and Annika Hahn-Englund, Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, recently signed the agreement for funding of the project at the NCC Corporate Headquarters, in Abuja, FCT.

The telecoms sector regulatory Commission, in a blog note shared on its verified social media platform Friday, February 7, 2025, stated: “This initiative will use real-time data from end-user devices to improve network performance, inform regulatory decisions, and expand connectivity in underserved areas across Nigeria.â€

In regard to the significance of the SWEDFUND to the Crowdsourcing Quality of Experience Project, the Commission also said that it would empower the Nigerian telecoms regulator to “monitor network performance in real-time, identifying and addressing issues, such as dropped calls, slow Internet speeds, and weak coverage in the country’s telecoms ecosystem.â€

The Commission further stated: “With such valuable data, the NCC will hold telecoms providers more accountable, ensuring better service delivery for consumers.

“This is a significant step toward enhancing connectivity in Nigeria and has the potential to set a benchmark across Africa.â€
