NDLF: Nigeria expanding Broadband infrastructure for 70 percent digital literacy by 2027 ─NITDA

Nigeria has intensified discussions on partnerships and collaborations focused on key challenges, achievements, and policy recommendations essential for shaping the country’s digital future with a view to attaining 70 percent target in digital literacy by 2027.

ñ reports Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), stated this when he received two European companies: Consulting & Management (C&M) and EUROPE Limited, that have been awarded an EU-funded contract.

NITDA disclosed the project is aimed at supporting the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE) in expanding Nigeria’s Broadband infrastructure and increasing digital literacy by 70 percent by 2027.

Represented in the meeting by Mr. Oladejo Olawunmi, Director of Information Technology Infrastructure Solutions Department of the agency, Inuwa noted that the visit, led by Judit Erdos, was meant to evaluate progress recorded in implementing the National Digital Literacy Framework (NDLF), and updating data from a prior World Bank study.

The IT sector regulatory agency further said: “With Nigeria targeting 70 percent digital literacy by 2027, discussions focused on key challenges, achievements, and policy recommendations essential for shaping the country’s digital future.”

On impact of Digital Literacy for All initiative on consumers

In a related development, NITDA has shared in a recent video, titled, “Powerful Voices, Real Impact!”, and shared via its verified social media account, the impact and experiential benefits of the Digital Literacy for All (DL4All) initiative to some Nigerian Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) owners.

The documentary, sighted by this publication, also revealed some of the beneficiaries of DL4ALL programme open to the agency’s Ambassadors, shared how digital literacy is inspiring and transforming their lives while unlocking new opportunities in the country’s economy.
